This report presents the achievements of the Knowledge Sector Initiative (KSI) during Phase 1, covering April 2013 to June 2017. It describes the rationale for strengthening Indonesia's knowledge sector, the barriers affecting the production and use of research, and the support provided by KSI to research organisations, policymakers and other stakeholders. The report highlights achievements in strengthening research partners, improving communication and use of evidence, developing relationships and networks, and creating a more supportive research environment. It also discusses KSI's engagement with the private sector and identifies lessons and priorities for the programme's second phase.
